Father, Son & Who? – The Holy Spirit
The Trinity: God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.
Acts 1:3-5 (NLT)
During the forty days after he suffered and died, he appeared to the apostles from time to time, and he proved to them in many ways that he was actually alive. And he talked to them about the Kingdom of God.4 Once when he was eating with them, he commanded them, “Do not leave Jerusalem until the Father sends you the gift he promised, as I told you before. 5 John baptized with water, but in just a few days you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit.”
John 16:7 (NLT)
“But in fact, it is best for you that I go away, because if I don’t, the Advocate won’t come. If I do go away, then I will send him to you.”
John 14:16-17 (NKJV)
“And I will pray (ask) the Father, and He will give you another Helper, that He may abide with you forever— 17 the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it neither sees Him nor knows Him; but you know Him, for He dwells with you and will be in you.”
If you don’t see him as a PERSON, you won’t develop a PERSONAL relationship with Him.
Who is the Holy Spirit?
John 14:25-26 (NKJV)
“These things I have spoken to you while being present with you. 26 But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you.”
The Holy Spirit is my HELPER.
The Helper TEACHES you.
John 16:12 -13 (NIV)
“I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all the truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.”
The Helper CONVICTS you.
John 16:8 (NIV)
“When (the Spirit) comes, he will convict the world of guilt in regard to sin and righteousness and judgment.”
The Holy Spirit is coming to convict you of sin and convince you that you are now right with God and Satan has no power of you.
The Helper COUNSELS You.
John 16:13 (NIV)
“But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth.”
The Helper EMPOWERS You.
Acts 1:8 (NIV)
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you will be my witnesses, telling people about me everywhere—in Jerusalem, throughout Judea, in Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” – Jesus
The Holy Spirit is my FRIEND.
A friend that COMFORTS You.
John 14:16 (KJV)
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever…
The Holy Spirit is my GOD.
Luke 3:22 (NIV)
And the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.”
Luke 11:11-13 (NLT)
“You fathers—if your children ask for a fish, do you give them a snake instead?12 Or if they ask for an egg, do you give them a scorpion? Of course not! 13 So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him.”
