FATHER, FORGIVE THEM.

Luke 23:34 (NLT)
Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.

“His death-warrant is signed, and who signed it but I… Those sins of mine were the voices which cried out, ‘Let Him be crucified.’” – John Henry

John 10:18 (NLT)
No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and also to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.

FORGIVENESS is our greatest NEED because SIN is our biggest PROBLEM.

TODAY YOU WILL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE.

Luke 23:43 (NLT)
And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Today: Heaven is NEAR.

Will Be: Heaven is CERTAIN.

With Me: Heaven is being WITH JESUS.

Luke 23:39-42 (NIV)
One of the criminals hanging beside him scoffed, “So you’re the Messiah, are you? Prove it by saving yourself—and us, too, while you’re at it!” 40 But the other criminal protested, “Don’t you fear God even when you have been sentenced to die? 41 We deserve to die for our crimes, but this man hasn’t done anything wrong.” 42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your Kingdom.”

All the THIEF could offer was his BELIEF.

Romans 3:22-25 (NIV)
This righteousness is given through faith in Jesus Christ to all who believe. There is no difference between Jew and Gentile, 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, 24 and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus. 25 God presented Christ as a sacrifice of atonement, through the shedding of his blood—to be received by faith.

WOMAN, BEHOLD YOUR SON! BEHOLD YOUR MOTHER!

John 19:26-27 (ESV)
When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” 27 Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home.

MY GOD, MY GOD, WHY HAVE YOU FORSAKEN ME?

Matthew 27:45-46 (NIV)
From noon until three in the afternoon darkness came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).

I AM THIRSTY.

John 19:28 (NIV)
Later, knowing that everything had now been finished, and so that Scripture would be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I am thirsty.”

IT IS FINISHED!

John 19:30 (NIV)
When he had received the drink, Jesus said, “It is finished.” With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

This is not the CRY of a VICTIM, but the SHOUT of a VICTOR!

FATHER, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT.

Luke 23:46 (NIV)
Jesus called out with a loud voice, “Father, into your hands I commit my spirit.” When he had said this, he breathed his last.

HE IS NOT HERE; HE HAS RISEN!

Luke 24:5-6 (NIV)
In their fright the women bowed down with their faces to the ground, but the men said to them, “Why do you look for the living among the dead? He is not here; he has risen!

I Corinthians 15:56-57 (NLT)
For sin is the sting that results in death, and the law gives sin its power. 57 But thank God! He gives us victory over sin and death through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Revelation 1:17-18 (NIV)
When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. Then he placed his right hand on me and said: “Do not be afraid. I am the First and the Last. 18 I am the Living One; I was dead, and now look, I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades.”

Romans 1:16 (NIV)
For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes.
